Back in the mists of time, “blues rock” was an actual musical species where bands would shamelessly rock the blues with Les Pauls and Marshall stacks in an ill-considered attempt to provide increased power (Scotty from Star Trek: “Captain, I don't know how much more emergency power we can take before we start to break up")! In tonight’s episode of The Captain Maniac Show (Episode 40: Blues Played By Rock & Roll Bands), we’ll be presenting 60s and 70s examples of this amalgamation, with blues-rockin' artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Blues Project, The Blues Magoos, PG & E and The Grateful Dead.
