Back to the Garage! This week's episode continues in our series of "It Came From the Garage" shows, where we reminisce about the raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s in North America, known lovingly as "garage rock", featuring often unsophisticated and occasionally aggressive lyrics and delivery. The name derives from the perception that groups were often made up of young amateurs who rehearsed in the family garage, although many were professional.
We begin Episode 370 with The Standells version of "Hey Joe", a rock standard which has been performed in many musical styles by hundreds of different artists (in late 1965, Los Angeles garage band the Leaves recorded the earliest known commercial version). Do What You Wanta Do!
