Our theme shows continue, and this week we turn our attention to several of the songs with the word "Walk" in the title, arguably the best-known being Walk Don't Run -- a song that was popularized by The Ventures, but of course was not the original, written and originally recorded by jazz guitarist Johnny Smith in 1954. It was later adapted and re-recorded by Chet Atkins in 1956, and was a track on the LP Hi-Fi In Focus. This arrangement was the inspiration for the version by The Ventures in 1960 (though the Ventures' arrangement is recognizably different from Atkins' finger-picked style). The Ventures' version we use to begin the show is the 1964 update, imaginatively titled Walk-Don't Run '64! You'll Never Walk Alone...
