Description
A while ago, Johnny Switchblade asked, “Have you ever done a show about sleep?”, so in order to answer that question, we present another chapter in our “theme” episodes, this time devoted to snoozing, having a nap, slumbers (sorry, “Golden Slumbers” is not in tonight’s tracklist), and shut-eye in general. Of course, the first song that came to mind for this show was “I'm Only Sleeping” by the Beatles (sure enough, it’s included in tonight’s program), but on further investigation, there are *plenty* of songs that meet that criteria, including 180 degree opposites like “Don't Sleep in the Subway” by Petula Clark and “Sleeping Village” by Black Sabbath! Great quantities of sleep-oriented songs appear in Episode 299 / The Big Sleep, including some predictable numbers -- we start off with an all-time favourite, “Sleeping In A Jar” by The Mothers Of Invention. The jar is under the bed!
