Our 150th show! Another chapter in the “my misguided youth” series, back to a time when I was a teenager in the Swingin’ Sixties, presenting both a cornucopia of garage-rock rarities and, as Archie and Edith sang, “songs that made the hit parade”. Observant listeners will notice that every band presented on tonight’s show has the word “The” in front of their name, which was the custom in those days — heck, we even called Eric Clapton’s band “The Cream”. The only exceptions are when the song is performed by a solo artist, as in the case of Jimmy Page or Jimmy Nicol (who was, for a brief time, Ringo’s stand-in on the Beatles’ Australian tour). Seriously, why can I remember every single word to a song from over 50 years ago, but not remember why I came in the kitchen?
