The voice comes first. Then the hats begin. A full kick follows, and mechanical sweeps move underneath everything like machinery heard through a wall. When the bass arrives, it comes from somewhere deep and growls beneath increasingly active percussion. Delicate synth stabs answer the weight of the low end while cowbell, background vocals, sweeps and small pieces of ear candy appear and disappear throughout the arrangement. A higher bass figure eventually rises above the foundation as percussion moves across the stereo field and electronic colors reminiscent of the '80s and '90s surface inside the groove. The breakdown introduces new synth textures before the tension gathers again and the track drops back into its heavy progressive stride. Heavy enough for peak time. Strange enough to open the night.
