America to ZED - Zambian Education Development is a nonprofit organization run by two sisters (Lusungu Sibande and Kondwani a.ka. Africa Zedgirl) based in South Carolina. Lusungu Sibande is a Reading Coach at an Elementary School in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to her role as a Reading Coach, she served as a 2nd grade teacher, Teacher Interventionist, and Reading Interventionist. In addition to being a Reading Coach, she is also an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina. Through the non-profit, she invites teachers to accompany her to Zambia to provide continued professional development to teachers during the months of June and July. It is her desire to be a part of the continued improvement of effective educational practices implemented in classrooms in Zambia.
