WTM #1142: Popcorn

This song continues to haunt &/or enchant the hollow echo chambers of the brain's audio department, reverberating through into memories. Popcorn, as arguably the first popular electronic single, was a huge hit and exemplifies that vexing mystery of why a ditty so simple entangles itself in the emotional ganglia of one's deepest and most enduring thoughts. I had considered a "Popcorn" show as early as spring 2011 but it wasn't until I saw the Dutch year-end gala TV show called De Wereld Draait Door [The World Continues to Turn] Top 2000, which features a week-long list of the "greatest" pop songs, with features and pre-taped interviews with musicians/songwriters of key songs. This yr they featured 91-yr-old Kingsley delightfully explaining the magic of a ditty & development of electronica.
