Valentine Comar welcomes Natalie Shooter for a special guest mix under the “Breakfast in…” series. Titled “Breakfast in Beirut – Synth Dreams,” the mix is a lush journey through the sticky melodies and hypnotic textures of 1970s–80s Lebanese synth pop, weaving together funk, folk, psychedelia, and slow-mo disco. Dreamy, transportive, and deeply rooted in place, it captures a sonic snapshot of Beirut’s golden musical era.
Natalie Shooter is a DJ, music writer, and researcher, and a co-founder of the Beirut Groove Collective (BGC)—a cult club night that has been running between Beirut and London for over 15 years. At BGC, she and her collaborators spotlight underground clubbing records from 1960s–80s Lebanon, the SWANA region, and beyond, connecting past sounds to present-day dancefloors.
