Oriki is a Manchester-based DJ and scientist whose sets are grounded in emotion, curiosity and storytelling. Her name, originally a blend of her first and last, was found to echo Ork: a Yoruba form of praise poetry. Drawing from Nigerian roots, she weaves together sounds that move beyond the obvious, with a genuine love for radio as a space to share music with meaning.
Join Oriki on the WOH Radio stage for “Echoes of Oriki”. The show is a reflective journey inspired by the Yoruba tradition of praise poetry. Each song unfolds like a page in a story of the lesser-known sounds of Nigerian music. Together we will move beyond commercial Afrobeats, to explore Afro jazz, spiritual highlife, ambient percussion and experimental tracks that honour ancestry. Starting slow, building with purpose, we invite listeners to feel deeply, discover widely, and hear what often goes unplayed.
