Encompassing the pulsating and playful Punjabi dholbeats of Bhangra to tabla-fuelled drum n’bass, trip-hop, and techno of the ‘Asian Underground’, this music is still largely underrepresented in mainstream media, despite its popularity and prolific production across the global South Asian diaspora. DJ Ritu has been championing this music and its creators for 4 decades, bringing it out of the shadows, and this year, to WHO radio!’
