Trinidad Carnival: A Chat with Clive Phillip // 05-03-22

Worldwide family member Jada Pink will be airing a Trinidad Carvival Special tomorrow at 15:00 GMT as she jumps into conversation with pioneer and legend Clive Phillip, who founded the Mangrove Steel Band back in the 80s. Come on a journey stretching back to the 40’s all the way through to present day. They will be playing tracks from all Trinidad legends, Lord Kitchener to Calypso Rose and even a Carnival Road March winning tune through each decade. Clive delves into his early days settling into the UK, Carnival in Trinidad - as well as his days working alongside activist and mastermind Frank Crichlow who was the owner of The Mangrove restaurant. Sit back but dance along as they chat from opposite generational views in the light of the second year of no Trinidad carnival.
