The Fifth Sun: Papaoul with Montoya & FLAWA // 25-04-19

DJ and music journalist Papaoul (aka Gabriel Francis) is in the studio exploring some new sounds from and inspired by Latin America. Expect everything from downtempo folktronica to future baile.

This month he’s joined by Colombian producer Montoya in the guest mix. His upcoming album ‘Otun’ sees Montoya fuse the traditional sounds of his native Colombia with the multi-layered precision of his classical education and electronic experimentation, creating something at once ambitious and comfortingly familiar.

We’ll also be hearing from one of the representatives behind the first edition of FLAWA (Festival of Latin American Women in Arts), talking about the upcoming London festival and the importance of creating a space for Latinx women and non-binary creators.
