Happy Birthday to Lee Morgan. The trumpeter, Jazz Messenger and Blue Note stalwart was responsible for some of the most influential records of the late 1950s and 1960s. His tragic death at only 33 years old cut short a career that saw him work with the likes of Art Blakey, John Coltrane and Joe Henderson and that had already made a huge impact on hard bop and jazz.
