Description
Shubbak organisers Alia Alzougbi and Dima Mekdad reflect on the last two weeks of festival programming.
Shubbak is a biennial multi-artform festival celebrating the creativity and innovation of Arab and SouthWest Asian & North African (SWANA) artists. Working nationally and internationally, the festival commissions and develops projects that support diverse artistic approaches through an artist-led, audience-focused process.
They’re joined in the studio by live electronic musician Pouya Ehsaei and writer-performer Tara Fateh from Lips to the Moon – a multi-sensory concert-performance-poetry show. They discuss their recent performance at Grand Junction as part of this year’s festival.
Plus reflections from London-based Kuwaiti artist Etaf ahead of her upcoming album release Don't Call me Habibi.
To finish the show there's a live set recording from DJ Heba Tabidi, who played at For Sudan — an evening dedicated to the beauty, depth and diversity of Sudanese culture.
