With an upbringing filled with psych, folk, and experimental electronics on one side and samba and bossa nova on the other, Hannah O'Gorman loves to find the common threads in an eclectic mix of sounds. Quickly becoming a mainstay in the Manchester music scene, Hannah is also one half of DJ collective and event series, Nossa!, and co-founder of community radio station, Steam Radio.
Today's show features excursions through rock, synth-pop, jazz, electronica, experimental and psychedelia from Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia and more.
In the second half of the show, Hannah hands the reins over to Julia Sabra of Beirut's Snakeskin to hear her speak on the origins of the project, her bandmate Fadi Tabbal and their upcoming album on Mais Um. Julia also paints a picture of the sights, sounds, and unique atmosphere of Beirut's vibrant creative scene.
