Platforms like WWFM and MAJ give sound selectors a chance to share music we love deeply and to create a mood for the moment. Also, radio programming as well as video channels often accompanies people in their homes, so I wanted to try and create a space for listening from home, the feeling of a pleasant morning and of getting the day started. The first half of this set is mellow, sometimes moody and melancholic, and is the kind of “stretch” I usually need upon rising. The second half is more uptempo and perhaps a tad scattered (as my days tend to be) but still enjoyable.
I also took this opportunity to present some of the tracks we’ve recently reissued or are forthcoming on the label — Brother Noland, Gordon Broad, Ray Peralta, Copper Nickel. Keep an ear and eye out for those on Aloha Got Soul later this year.
