Kate Magic & Kirsty Hawkshaw: Back to '89 & the Free Party Scene (WOH 2026) // 22-08-26

Kate Magic and Kirsty Hawkshaw met in 1989, at the height of the UK underground rave scene. Kirsty comes from a musical family, and found herself at the heart of the new music ecosystem being birthed in the UK, with close connections to Orbital, Spiral Tribe, Tonka sound system, and as the singer in Opus III, with whom she made the rave anthem, “It’s A Fine Day.”

Live from WOH Radio Stage, Kate and Kirsty sit down to discuss the personal and political implications of that foundational time in dance music culture. This promises to be a heart-warming and thought-provoking discussion as we explore how dancing in a field has evolved – for better and for worse – over nearly four decades.
