This week’s International Tribe mix comes from the collective Kawuku Sound.
Kawuku Sound is the collaborative project between friends Contours & Cervo with the Ugandan percussion troupe, Fonkodelis Arkestra. The project was born out of the Nyege Nyege affiliated Boutiq Studio in Kawuku, Kampala - Uganda.
Their sound blends traditional Ugandan instruments such as engalabi drums and adungu, field recordings of boda horns and sliding matatu doors, with bass driven riffs and trance-inducing rhythms. Their forthcoming album entitled Kawuku Sound is out on the 8th of October on the Banana Hill imprint. They will also be throwing a launch party at Eastern Bloc Recordings in Manchester on the 13th of October to celebrate the release.
