Description
Cumbia “Rebajada" (slowed) is the favoured way to play Colombian Music records by the Sonideros (sound system' selectors) in Mexican cities like Puebla, Mexico City, and especially in the northern city of Monterrey, where the style was accidentally created after an overheated turntable started to play at lower revolutions. The owner of the turntable didn’t fix the problem and party-goers seem to like more the slow-paced sounds, even demanding the music to be played that way. Not only this helped the Mexican public to understand some of the lyrics, but also to keep them dancing for longer.
