Giovanna Boffa is a radio host from Chicago, Illinois. The music she presents is coarse, crude, caring, yet unconcerned. Live from the WOH Radio Stage, What's the Point reflects on Promontory Point, the lakefront park in Chicago's Hyde Park neighbourhood. Its accessibility and natural landscape have made it an enduring gathering place for local communities for decades.
Capturing the atmosphere and cultural significance of this natural village, the show combines spoken narratives from Kahil el'Zabar and Peven Everett with music drawn primarily from the extensive library of WHPK 88.5 FM, the nearby community radio station. Dance, R&B, house, hip hop and jazz are all central to the park's musical identity, and Giovanna weaves these genres together to explore how music moves between the space and the people who bring it to life.
