The celebration kicks off with Jazz First founder Tony Poole presenting an hour of highlights from International Jazz Day concerts around the world, spanning back to the inaugural event in 2011.

Tony is a jazz broadcaster, writer, and former promoter with a passion for groove-driven sounds. As host of the Jazz First podcast, his selections are an eclectic mix of cutting-edge jazz from around the globe, spotlighting fresh releases that redefine the jazz experience.

His journey began in hospital radio in the 1980s, later presenting on BBC Essex Radio and promoting live jazz events. He ran ViRGO ViBES, his Black music mail-order record business throughout much of the 90s, before relocating to Spain in 2001. There, he helped promote the San Javier International Jazz Festival for several years.
