This week’s broadcast is a big, bouncing run through disco re-edits, Afro-Latin grooves, and hip-hop reworks, with Kool & The Gang, Grace Jones, Fela Kuti, and Nuyorican Soul all in the crates. Ghostface, Souls of Mischief, A Tribe Called Quest, and Kendrick Lamar get the edit treatment alongside soulful cuts from Alicia Myers and Lucy Pearl. It winds down through Latin jazz and percussion with Poncho Sanchez, Bobby Hutcherson, and Quantic, before closing on Nuyorican Soul’s “Shoshana”.
