These past two weeks will inevitably go down in history as the weeks where Savages unveiled their very first songs - and ‘Into the Blogosphere’ has promptly included both ‘Husbands’ and ‘Flying to Berlin’, the two sides to their debut single on Pop Noire - but there’s more to the musical fortnight than the arrival of the biggest buzz band of the year.
Take, for instance, the best Beat Connection track to date, the arrival of a mysterious songwriter who calls herself Sylvia, some hype-affirming gems from Holograms, Jessie Ware and MONEY, too. Then there’s Scandi-pop (Ditt Inre), a rare inclusion of drum ‘n bass (Elite Gymnastics) and some sentimental ballads thrown in there too (cheers Antony Hegarty and Perfume Genius) - so there’s a lovely balance to enjoy on this, the historic DIY Radio show that included Savages when it was cool to do so.
