Description
From their early 70's musical birth to right now as we speak, other-worldly California siblings Ron & Russell Mael have confounded everyone with their 'Pop', but where this term can cover the most bland and uninteresting generi-bollocks imaginable, never before has this simple 3 letter genre been stretched to complete breaking point by the landfill of outlandish, pristine, intelligent, ostentatious, lush, powerful, colourful, modish, facetious, distinctive and downright bizarre ideas from the brilliant Sparks.
Here's 19 tracks plucked from 22 albums and taking in influences as far and wide as 60's Psychedelia, Punk Rock, Swing, Breakbeat, Show-tune, Classical, House, Prog, Disco, Glam and Electro, sometimes all under one roof, and then spat out with (Sparks sounding) bells on for the rats to chew, their influence on literally thousands of bands, old and new, is apparent the second you get under their skin.
So...67 minutes of the sounds of Sparks...A Pop totem if ever there was one.
