This one was sparked by BigTurtle's JZN (001) show that took me straight back into the early 2000's. Back then I had an extensive jazz house record collection, a collection that's sadly lost now, but the sound never left me. This is my way of bringing some of it back.
Deep house doesn't get more authentic than this. Rooted in the sound of Naked Music and Yoshitoshi Recordings, early 2000's San Francisco at its finest.
Lisa Shaw's voice carries through this one, warm, soulful and unmistakable, on both versions of Cherry. Miguel Migs shows up throughout, from the raw Yoshitoshi roots of Find What's Mine to the Salted Music sound he later built his own name on. Andy Caldwell, Blue Six and Aquanote fill in the rest, with a little Roberto Surace and Black Loops to bridge the classics into today.
This is jazzy, musical, vocal-driven house. Made for rooftops, sunsets and slow Sundays. With love, Edgar.
