A Tribute to RADIO FREE ROBOTS
Live from La Générale, Paris, 08-15-2024
-----------------------------------
Radio Free Robots, active from 2005 to 2009, was a collective of Jérome Fino, Laurent Basset, Yann Leguay, Samon Takahashi, and Clément Lyonnet. This cybernetic utopia examined the man-machine relationship and the complexities of digital society, featuring various avatars and guests.
Their primary output was a radio talk show hosted by artificial intelligences for human listeners, with debates transliterated through voice synthesis. Members, under the avatar Silicone Carne, created music for both humans and robots, employing speech-text tools to sonify signs and phonemes, alongside electronic circuits and mechanical sounds.
Between 2005 and 2009, they produced around forty radio programs, concerts, and sound installations for various festivals and radio stations.
This tribute honors Clément Lyonnet, who passed away in spring 2024.
