The nineteenth-century cultural theorist Matthew Arnold believed in "touchstones" - lines from classical literature against which modern writing should be judged. Here, touchstones for recent work by I Digress Indeed and AMM All-Stars are a couple of tracks recorded by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn in 1950.
