MOVING SOUNDS welcomes Sandunes for a mix this month, as the show takes a temporary break from its usual interview format. Sandunes is the artist project of Sanaya Ardeshir – composer, producer, and sound artist from Mumbai/LA. Like her naturally occurring namesake, her sound is constantly evolving - ranging from experimental piano music, to cinematic art pop. Ardeshir’s work is inspired by themes of interdependence within ecosystems. She draws from cultural narratives, ancestry, and ecology while integrating the worlds of studio and stage, melding electronic music, orchestration, visuals, and musician-machine interaction.
She has been described as “one of India's leading electronic music artists” (Resident Advisor), and her work has garnered praise from international and local tastemakers across various media including Rolling Stone, The Quietus, The Guardian, The Wire, and the BBC World Service.
