On this month's edition of Moving Sounds, James Heather takes a break from the interviews and does his first mix for a good few years. We may be 8 days into 2025, but there was just so much good music in 2024 that a mix of those selections seemed apt! Music includes Paradise Cinema, Sofi Paez, the brilliant Lebanese duo Snakeskin, Actress, a Recorder Ensemble, a soundtrack from Nico Muhly, Nailah Hunter, field recordings from Patricia Wolf, a nod to the stunning returns by The Cure and Beth Gibbons and the final song Ryuichi Sakamoto put to record.
Moving Sounds is a show hosted by the artist James Heather that connects spaces between classical, electronic, ambient, soul, jazz, drone, film soundtrack, folk, field recordings & other sounds from the past and from now. The show most often takes the form of an interview with an artist or industry figure that James respects about the tracks that have signposted their lives and brought tears, whether happy or sad to their eyes.
