This week's guest mix comes from Joanna Holewa aka Shuwana. Born in Sweden but residing half time in South Africa since 2015, Shuwanas connection to deep, afro and tribal house/tech music was first formed in Johannesburgs club and dance scene. She initially travelled to South Africa to learn about Pantsula culture, found her way into the clubs and fell in love with the heavy local sound. Having danced her whole life and being a force on the dancefloor she felt a natural pull to the role of DJ, to explore another way of being one with the music. With her background in movement it gives her a unique way of curating a musical journey, embodying the sound and pulling people into her world one beat at a time.
Shuwana firmly believes that music is a healing power that knows no border, and that a DJ set is an opportunity to foster connection between and within people on the dancefloor. Commited to her craft she continues to deepen her artistry, skills and understanding of DJing and music.
