At just 12 years old, Ap—better known today as DJ Kessie—discovered his passion for music behind the mic of a local radio station. What started as a childhood hobby quickly evolved into a lifelong journey through the world of beats and basslines.
By the age of 16, he was already experimenting with mixing tracks in his bedroom, crafting his own soundscapes late into the night. Not long after, he stepped into the spotlight as a DJ and mixer at drive-in shows, bringing his energy to live audiences and building his reputation one gig at a time.
Throughout the late '80s and early '90s, DJ Kessie played in small clubs and continued mixing from home. But by the end of the '90s, he decided to hang up his headphones—at least for a while.
