British-born but based in Berlin since 2007, Barker forged ties with Ostgut Ton, carving out a singular path on the club and label’s roster. Never one for orthodoxy, he challenged techno’s four-to-the-floor framework in favor of melodic experimentation, stripping away kick drums and claps for immersive, weightless sound.
Six years after Utility, his sophomore album Stochastic Drift delves deeper into harmonic twists. “The only thing you can do is embrace uncertainty,” he wrote.
