Lubi Jovanovic (DJ Lubi) and Gip Dammone are veterans of the UK jazz/soul/global beats scenes in the UK. Based in Leeds, they first started working together in the mid-1980s, swept up by the British jazz revival and UK jazzdance scene at the time.
From the mid-1980s to the early 2000s, they were pivotal members of the much respected north of England DJ/promoter crew the DIG Family who were leaders of the dancefloor jazz/acid jazz scenes across the region. In Leeds from 1992 to 1999, their club sessions such as DIG!, The Cooker, Yardbird Suite and Casa Latina were weekly sold out events and they hosted monthly sessions across the north in LIverpool, Manchester, Teesside and London (Jazz Cafe). With radio shows on Leeds Student Radio and Jazz FM, two record labels (Cooker Records & Yardbird Suite Records) and guest DJ gigs across the UK and EU, they bossed it. During their 17 years together, they promoted many jazz, Latin music and soul legends at their events.
