To start our Beat The Borders day of broadcasting, we were pleased to collaborate with the team over at Jungala Radio, based in the Jungle refugee camp over in Calais. They shared some truly harrowing content with us that highlighted the plight of these refugees travelling to Europe in search of a better, more secure life.
The show was also good to point out the sense of community that has developed in the camp, as people from different countries come together to enjoy each others culture and company; the true result of multiculturalism rather than the negativity peddled by certain media outlets and politicians. The shows also included an interview with Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn who was appalled by the conditions in the camp and who's job it is now as leader of the opposition to change the political discourse and right the governments wrong and frankly abhorrent attitude towards the current crisis.
