Description
Toots Thielemans died on Monday in Brussels. He was 94. Mr. Thielemans played jazz on the harmonica but first gained international attention by playing guitar and whistling in unison. Thielemans performed with artists such as Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and many more.
Our Belgian friend, www.mixcloud.com/leenknecht pays tribute to the biggest jazzcat his country has ever known. Martin Leenknecht opens and closes this week’s show with Toots his music, mainly focussed on his Brasil inspired work. Besides that, you will also hear tunes by the Wizards of Ooze, Pomrad and Starflam – three other Belgian outfits – as well as Kaytranada, Barney Artist, Flofilz, Red Snapper and many others. Enjoy.
