F.L.Y. took the world by storm back in 2009 with their breakout infectious hit, "Swag Surfin'," a song synonymous with the Swag Surfin’ dance. Doing it solo looks like a confident body bob left and right with accompanied arm movements, but if done in a group it’s the act of embracing the people around you arm-in-arm, a motion resembling a wave. Song-dance combos were abundant in the early aughts and continue to this day (think Soulja Boy’s "Crank That," Cali Swag District’s "Teach Me How to Dougie," or Drake's “In My Feelings” kiki dance), but "Swag Surfin’" has soundtracked significant events in black public and personal history: It’s often played at graduation at HBCUs, was played in the White House at the concert tribute to Barack Obama and was included in Beyonce’s monumental 2018 Coachella performance.
