Brooklyn-via-Queens native Deem Spencer decided he needed to write his own raps after trying to impress a girl at school with an Asher Roth rhyme. Since then he's been crafting intricate, hushed verses about the painful mundanities of being young and growing up. With producers like Joey Desktop, Pip and Jachary, Spencer has put out a series of EPs, from his 2016 debut _sunflower_ through 2017's sophomore EP _we think we alone now_ – written in the aftermath of caring for his terminally ill grandfather — and now his new effort, _pretty face_.
