Description
Every week on Top Flight, journalist Chal Ravens selects the best new bass, breaks and riddims from the global underground. This week, Top Flight puts the spotlight on China's megacities to find out how a wave of mold-breaking producers are creating a truly homegrown club sound. Gaz, boss of the Shanghai-based label SVBKVLT, tells Chal how pockets of alternative club culture have sprung up in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing and Chengdu, and talks us through some of the Chinese artists he's most excited about. Along with tracks from SVBKVLT, we hear new sounds from labels like Genome 6.66 Mbp and Howie Lee's Do Hits, and artists including Rui Ho and Tzusing. On top of that, Chal has the week's new releases from the outer edges of the dancefloor, including tracks from London's India Jordan, Uganda's Spooky Shit label and a new club compilation from Cairo.
