We’ve got Walshy Fire stepping into the studio this week to run through the whole episode with Max Glazer. Born and raised between Jamaica and Florida, Walshy got his start as a member of Black Chiney, a Miami DJ crew known for their mixtapes blending reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and R&B. He eventually got tapped by Diplo to become a part of the trio known as Major Lazer, the EDM outfit highly influenced by reggae and dancehall sounds and culture. He’s a masterful DJ, MC and producer, lending his touch on production for "Throne" by Koffee and most of the Major Lazer albums. On his debut solo release, _Abeng_, Walshy wanted to support the musical conversation between Africa and the Caribbean — it bridges the sounds of afrobeat and afropop with soca, dancehall and reggae, and features a bunch of artists from each region. We’ll get to hear about his rise, his latest album and more. Expect a good vibe on this one.
