Over his storied 50-year career, Beres Hammond has become one of Jamaican music’s last living legends. From his first demos as a pre-teen and his first band Zap Pow to the founding of his own record label Harmony House Records and the international dancehall smash "Tempted to Touch,” Hammond has bridged cultural divides while maintaining one of Jamaica’s most loyal fanbases. With sonic roots in classic rocksteady and American R&B, Hammond’s smoky rasp and smoothed-out vibes have helped him carve out a specialty in “lovers rock,” that is, music to make babies to. At 63 years old he’s still going strong, still touring, still dropping records and still gracing us with his art, experience and wisdom.
