Preset with Todd Osborn – Japanese Psychedelic Rock

This month, Todd Osborn explores a very fruitful year for Japanese psych rock: 1971. While the rest of the world was mixing religion and Indian scales into their rock bouillabaisse, in Japan several bands took to combine traditional Japanese musical elements with psych rock, putting their own spins on Western guitar motifs. As you'll hear, the results range from extended cosmic rock excursions to tripped-out Shinto meditations.
