The bossa nova sound started in the 1960s, when samba and jazz fused together to form a "new wave" of music. Although most people’s introduction to bossa was through mainstream jazz, like that of Stan Getz, Todd Osborn dives into the Brazilian jams that are really great but not so obvious (basically anything that isn’t on some corny lounge compilation). Most of these tracks are form the ‘60s and ‘70s, although a couple from the ‘80s also sneak in.
