Korean rap duo XXX – made up of rapper Kim Ximya and beatmaker FRNK – position themselves as an antidote to the big-budget trap copycats currently dominating the South Korean charts. They create dark and twisted electronic beats that recall Hudson Mohawke and Arca, and soul-searching raps that grapple with the question of success under capitalism, and what it means to be a Korean rapper. On today's show, Matthew Ruiz talks to the duo about the South Korean hip-hop scene, the challenges of bilingual wordplay, keeping it real and their debut album, _Language_.
