Born and bred Houstonite Trae Tha Truth has been a prominent player in the city's rap scene since the late 90's — outside of his ten-album deep solo career, Trae is also known as a member of the underground collective Screwed Up Click, one half of ABN and a founding member of Guerrilla Maab (with Z-Ro and Dougie D). On top of it all, the prolific rapper is widely respected for his philanthropic efforts — he offered immense aid following Hurricane Harvey — and his annual Trae Day initiative. In the immediate aftermath of Harvey, Trae was on the frontlines of the relief effort — the destruction and loss he witnessed left him pained for his hometown. In order to cope, he channelled his feelings into a new album, _Hometown Hero_, his tenth release. He'll join Lawrence Burney today to speak about his ongoing humanitarian efforts and the ways he uses his creativity to shed light on the strife of his community.
