For the last 10 years, Jennifer "TOKiMONSTA" Lee has put her unique stamp on L.A.'s beat scene with an eclectic bunch of releases for Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, Ramp, Listen Up and her own Young Art Records. In 2015, she was struck by a rare brain disease called MoyaMoya that caused her to lose speech and comprehension skills; as part of her recovery process of re-learning music and language, she crafted _Lune Rouge_, an album that's now nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Harley Brown sits down with TOKi to talk about these recent developments and her beatmaking trip.
