Description
It's a roundtable on the new faces of Detroit jazz today, as we welcome four of the city's most prominent figures in jazz. Jon Dixon, who has shared the stage with the likes of Galaxy 2 Galaxy, Amp Fiddler, Jeff Mills, Mike Banks, Derrick May, Francesco Tristano, Carl Craig and more, is one of the city's most sought-after musicians and currently working on various Hi-Tech Jazz projects. Saxophonist De'Sean Jones, an active member of Underground Resistance, is a world-renowned innovator and for the past 7 years has been an integral force in the Hi-Tech Jazz movement (alongside Dixon). Jazz producer, composer and pianist Ian Finkelstein and saxophonist, composer, improviser, and educator Marcus Elliot, will rep the younger generation of Detroit's jazz scene. Later in the show, we'll hear a special live DJ set and chat with under the radar producer Scott Grooves.
