Composer and Moog-aficionado Wendy Carlos is responsible for creating that nail-biting tension and pit-of-your-stomach feeling in the Stanley Kubrick classics _A Clockwork Orange_ and _The Shining_, as well as the glossy and futuristic tunnel of sound in _Tron_. Coating the classical in a sheath of synthesis, Carlos's soundtracks have influenced countless others. Today on Peak Time Vivian takes a deeper dive into these epochal scores as she is joined by professor Sergi Casanelles. The Barcelona-born composer is currently on staff NYU Steinhardt — where he earned his PhD in film music composition — and focuses a fair portion of his syllabus to the work of Carlos. Given his academic focus, Casanelles is the perfect guest to guide us through today's sonic exploration.
