Shamir — full name Shamir Bailey — is a young, eclectic musician whose career and personal life have seen many highs and lows. Bursting onto the scene in 2013 with a couple of EPs, Bailey's confessional songwriting and lo-fi indie rock electro-pop quickly wooed fans and drew the attention of XL, with whom he released his debut _Ratchet_ in 2015. Following its release, Bailey hit some speed bumps: He was dropped from XL and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In this darkness Bailey found light, by taking respite in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, where he focused on writing and recording the bulk of his second album, _Revelations_. The album, released last fall on Father/Daughter, is full of what the title implies: Stunning exhalations of emotion. Vivian welcomes Bailey to the studio today to discuss his return to his lo-fi roots, how he maintains a life balance and what revelations he's discovered so far.
