As Ritual Howls, the trio of vocalist and guitarist Paul Bancell, keyboardist and percussionist Christopher Samuels and bassist Ben Saginaw have carved out their own sonic niche, a sound they call "death jangle." They combine post-punk, gothic synth and industrial rock to soundtrack a wild west eternally blanketed in thick, grey mist. Creating haunting atmospheres that feel both futuristic and retro is a skill they've honed since their 2012 self-titled debut, and it's ever-present on their forthcoming fourth album, _Rendered Armor_. Today they'll call into the studio to talk about the elements that shaped their sound and the surrealist scenes that drive the album's theme.
